PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a photonic crystal optical fiber, which dust or the like near its end face is prevented from entering its circular opening during and after the polishing and which is easily cleaned, and also to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The photonic crystal optical fiber 302 which is inserted into and fixed to a connector ferrule 306 is solid near its end face; therefore, no abrasive material nor polishing dust enters the circular opening 303 through the end face 302a, thereby causing no damage nor shear drop. In addition, dust stuck after the polishing is prevented from entering the circular opening 303 through the end face 302, with the cleaning made easy. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
