The escalator-negotiable trolley (1) has a running gear with castering steering wheels (5) and two rear rigid support wheels (6). At least one of the support wheels has a roll-off lock which is a swinging arm (11) pivoting around an axis extending at right angles to the direction of travel and interacting with the tread surface of an escalator step. A swinging arm may be provided on both support wheels, with each suspended on the running gear to pivot around an axis (13) which is parallel to the rotational axis (12) of the wheels and offset upwards in relation to the axis of the wheels.
