Latent heat storage assembly voids packed with bulk-fed quantity metal or plastic spheres

A combined heat/cold heat storage assembly (3) has a series of alternating hot and cold layers forming a heat exchanger (6) and operates on the spherical reactor principle. The heat exchanger has a series of contact surfaces separated by voids in which heat or cold is stored. The voids are filled especially by a bulk charge of spheres. The heat exchanger has external fittings (10, 11) which link to an external solid fuel burner, and an interior fitting (10) connected to a steam lance (13). The spheres are made of metal or heat-resistant plastic.
