<p>A gas filled oil impregnated cable in which the cable ends are always adequately fille with impregnant regardless of the expansion-contraction of the cable with load. The cable end chamber (7) is raised above the plane in which the cable lies. The impregnant in the chamber is connected (15) to a reservoir (11) of impregnant (13) which is also provided with a piston (12). The piston side opposite to the impregnant is directly connected to the gas in the cable (1, 4) to guarantee a basic impregnant pressure. An additional piston (16), on a common rod with the first, is connected to the gas supply via a pressure reducing valve, and can thus act as regulator for the impregnant pressure to compensate for variations.</p> |
