Controlled electrical signals are applied respectively to the line electrodes and to the column electrodes of the screen. The line addressing signals comprise two parts: a first part performing an anchoring break in relation to all of the pixels of the screen, and a second part to determine the final status of the pixels of the line. The method provides electrical addressing of a bistable nematic liquid crystal matrix screen with an anchor breaking system. Controlled electrical signals are applied respectively to the line electrodes and to the column electrodes of the screen. Several lines are simultaneously addressed using similar line signals which are temporally offset by a time which is greater than or equal to the column voltage application time. The line addressing signals comprise two parts: during a first part they comprise a voltage value that can be used to perform an anchoring break in relation to all of the pixels of the screen, and during a second part they can be used to determine the final status of the pixels forming the addressed line. The final status is a function of the value of each of the electrical signals applied to the corresponding columns.
