<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft-magnetic Co-based metallic glass composition which is a Co-B-Si alloy showing a distinctive glass transition, a wide supercooled liquid region and a higher glass formability. <P>SOLUTION: The soft-magnetic Co-based metallic glass alloy has a composition represented by the formula: [Co<SB>1-n-(a+b)</SB>Fe<SB>n</SB>B<SB>a</SB>Si<SB>b</SB>]<SB>100-x</SB>M<SB>x</SB>(wherein a, b and n each represents an atomic ratio and satisfies 0.1≤a≤0.17, 0.06≤b≤0.15, 0.18≤a+b≤0.3 and 0≤n≤0.08; M is at least one element chosen from Zr, Nb, Ta, Hf, Mo, Ti, V, Cr, Pd and W; and x represents an atom.% satisfying 3≤x≤10), a temperature interval ΔT<SB>x</SB>of the supercooled liquid region of ≥40 K, a reduced glass transition temperature T<SB>g</SB>/T<SB>m</SB>of 0.59 and a low coercive force of ≤2.0 A/m. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
