PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform exact data transfer when individual nodes transfer the data to a node having slow transfer speed from a node having fast transfer speed to transfer received data to other node under the same transfer speed as the transfer speed in receiving the data in a 1394 data transfer system. SOLUTION: The data transfer system is constructed by using the node in which the format of the data is converted into a format meeting the maximum transfer speed of a first node in transferring the data to the first node having slower maximum transfer speed than its own maximum transfer speed, and the format of the data is converted into a format meeting the self maximum transfer speed in transferring the data to a second node having faster maximum transfer speed than its own maximum transfer speed.
