PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC type PDP having a cell structure without requiring transparent electrode of a manufacturing process largely related to material cost and mass production yield and its front panel, and to provide a PDP having improved light emitting efficiency by reducing the region between cells by providing mis-discharge preventing barrier rib between the upper and lower cells as well as a back barrier rib of a back panel. SOLUTION: First and second bus electrodes without requiring transparent electrode in the front panel comprise a main electrode for starting discharge for a terminal electrode connected to a terminal part and a branch electrode for keeping stability of feed and discharge between them. For reducing the non-discharge region, the back panel is provided with a triangular projecting wall from a side surface of the back barrier rib, its tip is connected to the tip of the adjacent projecting wall to form a projecting barrier rib. Thus, the region between the cells is reduced, the light emitting efficiency is improved, and the PDP requires no transparent electrode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
