PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type indicator capable of increasing the visibility of a dial. SOLUTION: This pointer type indicator comprises a dial 30 having indexes corresponding to measurement values formed thereon and a pointer 10 for indicating the indexes formed on the dial 30. The pointer 10 comprises a pointer part 103 illuminated by light from a pointer light source 102 and light guiding means 103d, 101d, 101e and 104 guiding a part of light from a pointer light source 103 and illuminating the limited area of the dial 30 forming the background of the pointer part 103. Thus, a part of the dial forming the background of the pointer is illuminated even at night, and the dial indicated by the pointer can be viewed. Also, since only the limited area of the dial around the pointer is illuminated, a novel and interesting visibility can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
