<p>The feed continuously fills plates having recesses, or pots supported by them, with compost. It comprises a hopper (1) mounted above an endless belt (2) running round two pulleys (3,4). These are mounted on a frame (6) hinging at one end on a fixed one (8), which is moved up and down by eccentric rollers (9) to have a compacting effect on the compost. Additional compaction and smoothing of the compost is by a roller (12) outside the hopper and opposite a vertical opening in it, bearing against the plates (10).</p> |
