The present invention is directed toward determination of particular fragments of haptoglobin which are found in the circulation of patients suffering from Alzheimer's dementia; toward processes for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease via utilization of said haptoglobin fragments; and toward various methodologies for determining risk-assessment, disease progression, disease state, therapeutic avenues, and validation of pharmaceutical agents deemed to be efficacious in treating the disease.
