The invention relates to a method for wastewater clarification using a flotation installation, to a flotation installation comprising a tank (1) which can be filled with an aqueous mixture of solids, and to a bubble generator for forming bubbles (4) inside the aqueous mixture of solids. The flotation installation is characterised in that the tank comprises at least one ultrasound head (6) for emitting ultrasound waves into the aqueous mixture of solids and for receiving ultrasound waves from the aqueous mixture of solids, and a control and evaluation unit is connected to the at least one ultrasound head (6), electrically controlling the same and evaluating the ultrasound signals from the ultrasound head which can be associated with the ultrasound waves reflected by the aqueous mixture of solids. The control and evaluation unit regulates the formation of bubbles (4) inside the tank according to at least one decision criterium, by means of the at least one regulating means.
