A process for preparation of cryogenic solid propellants for rocket propulsion, especially from heterogeneous liquid/solid propellants in which one of the reactants contains as oxidizer or fuel, a phase liquid or gaseous at normal temperature, e.g. an emulsion of mutually insoluble liquid components, suspensions of solid and liquid components or liquid steeped ballasts is new. An Independent claim is included for a solid propellant for rocket propulsion, especially a heterogeneous quasi-monergolic (single component propellant) fuel-oxidizer or gaseous phase, e.g. an emulsion of mutually insoluble liquid components, suspensions of solid and liquid components or liquid steeped ballast, where at least one reactant contains a solid converted by cooling into a stable state and at least one of the reactants is formed into a coherent solid phase with an interconnected pore structure.
