The system provides a mounting for the radiator and cooling components in a vehicle, and uses a wedge operating within a defined slot. The wedge may be partially inserted in guide slots, whilst in an open position. It is then fully inserted so that it is retained, and in this position it secures the radiator in position within the vehicle framework. The mounting is simple and resistant to fatigue. The system for attaching functional components to the structural frame (2) of a vehicle comprises a locking wedge carried by the functional component (6). A set of jaws are arranged to grip the wedge and are able to adopt an open position in which the wedge is free, and a closed position in which the wedge is retained. A seating is provided in the structural frame (2) of the vehicle to accommodate this set of jaws. A guiding groove (16) is provided in the seating, enabling the jaws to be partially inserted before being completely inserted in order to adopt the secure retaining position.
