<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified bat which has a hitting part with a better durability and batting capacity and a grip part with a desired weight and rigidity characteristics that ensures a larger batting speed in hitting balls. <P>SOLUTION: The bat has an elongated tubular hitting member 12 made of the first material and an elongated grip member 30 made of the second material. The grip comprises a compound material that combines selected weight distribution, strength and rigidity and layers so selected as to generate improved batting characteristics with bearing factors.
