PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly and speedily decide whether the error corrected result of an error correction module is proper or not even when there is an error over the correction ability of the error correction module. SOLUTION: An inspection block 20 is provided in addition to the conventional error correction module composed of an ECC decoder 10. The inspection block 20 has an ECC encoder 21, a comparator 22 and a correction information selector part 23. Then, an ECC is generated by the ECC encoder 21 from information data decoded by the ECC decoder 10, and the ECC is compared with a decoded ECC by the comparator 22. In the case of non-coincidence, it is judged that the error over the correction ability occurs on a receiving path and decoding is impossible. It is because information data are not normally decoded or the ECC is not normally decoded and in any case, data are decided non- reliable.
