PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical network wherein a sine wave signal to drive a polarized wave scrambler can be phase-locked to a transmission signal bit rate received by a polarized wave dependent light intensity modulator.
SOLUTION: In the optical network configured such that a light intensity modulator of other node receives a continuous light sent from a light source of one node via an optical fiber, modulates the continuous light by using an external transmission signal, and transmits the modulated signal light to a succeeding node, the one node is provided with a polarized wave scrambler, which converts the continuous light from the light source into a scrambled light with zero polarization degree and provides an output, the other node is provided with: the polarized wave dependent light intensity modulator; a clock electric signal extract means for receiving part of distributed power of the scrambled light and extracting a clock electric signal with a frequency equivalent to a multiple of n of the frequency of the sine wave signal to drive the polarized wave scrambler; and a phase lock means for phase-locking the transmission signal bit rate with the clock electric signal to give the result to the polarized wave dependent light intensity modulator.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
