PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line communication (PLC) modem having only to receive an AC power from a power socket in a home and connect with an information processing apparatus for receiving power and exchanging data at the same time. SOLUTION: The PLC modem 10 is provided with: a rectifier circuit 11b1 for rectifying an AC power into DC; a modem circuit 11c for receiving the DC voltage from the rectifier circuit 11b1; a USB connector 11d connected to the modem circuit 11c; and a signal superimposing circuit 11b2 for superimposing a signal processed by the modem circuit 11c on the AC power, and the rectifier circuit 11b1 supplies the DC voltage to the USB connector 11d.
