<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the phenomenon that the relation of fields on the time axis is inverted during a frame conversion process. <P>SOLUTION: For inputted image signals based on a 60i format generated by applying a frame-conversion based on a 2-3 pull-down system to image signals based on a 24PsF format, a CCU 20<SB>1</SB>makes an inverse frame-conversion to the frame conversion through a frame converter 107. For inputted image signals based on a pure 60i format without frame conversion, the CCU 20<SB>1</SB>makes a frame conversion to thin them frame by frame according to a conversion ratio through the frame converter 107.
