The mixing device (1), especially for the mixing of dry mortar and mixing water, has at least one main mixer (2) and an after-mixer (4) installed downstream in the material transporting direction. The after-mixer has a variable section gap (5) for the passage of the mixed material. The through-gap is formed in the after-mixer between an after-mixing chamber (6) and inlet piece (7) of the after-mixing chamber. The inlet piece has a smaller cross section than the after-mixing chamber and the gap is formed on the transition (8) from the inlet piece to the after-mixing chamber.
