The power supply device provides a rectified voltage to an electrode arrangement (14) of the plasma burner (12) and contains a transformer (22), a rectifier stage (24) and a smoothing stage (28) with a power circuit, whereby a smoothing device is driven by a clocked power switch. The smoothing stage has at least one further power circuit with a clocked power switch and an associated smoothing device. An independent claim is also included for the following: a plasma burner.
