A catheter guide comprising a body member (1) having a channel therethrough to receive a catheter and a slit (4) extending the length of the channel. The catheter guide can be used to guide the insertion of a catheter into the umbilical cord of a newborn baby and can be removed once the catheter is inserted. Preferably, the guide also includes an inner member (10), with a shoulder (21) extending therefrom. When the inner member (10) is inserted into the body member, the shoulder (21) engages with the slit (4) in the body member, filling the slit to form a continnuous outer surface an the body member. |
