PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regularly prevent transfer failure caused by waving of an intermediate transfer belt or failure in drive of the belt, in an image forming apparatus using the elastic intermediate transfer belt having a difference in circumferential length between widthwise ends thereof. SOLUTION: Seamless reinforcement members 91 are disposed on the backs of both the ends of the intermediate transfer belt 10. Each seamless reinforcement member is the one having a periphery which is the same in circumferential length as the internal face of the intermediate transfer belt and having no seams. Because there is a difference in circumferential length between the widthwise ends of the intermediate transfer belt, the circumferential lengths of the seamless reinforce members are different from each other.
