PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing plated products capable of improving the bond strength between a metallic plating layer and a top coat layer and of preventing peeling at boundary surfaces. SOLUTION: The plated product is formed with a base coat layer, silver plating layer 14 and the top coat layer 15 on the surface of a base material. A reducing solution containing sulfite ions is applied to the surface of the layer 14 in a silver mirror post treating process step, by which hydroxy groups having an extremely high polarity are imparted to the surface of the layer 14. A number of the hydroxy groups exist on the surface of the layer 15 and the hydroxy groups are freshly imparted to the surface of the silver plating layer 14, by which the bonding points with the layer 15 by intermolecular forces can be increased. The adhesion of the silver plating layer 14 to the layer 15 can then be exhibited. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
