<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a register controlling method for a rotary printing machine which can prevent generation of a brake following change of a printing speed by controlling variation of a top and bottom register in variable speed, and to provide the rotary printing machine. <P>SOLUTION: A characteristic of a register variation of a pattern printing with respective printing units 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D in changing the speed is estimated per a specific printing condition governing the register variation characteristic. A phase control characteristic among respective printing units 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D for denying slippage of the top and bottom register between the patterns printed with respective printing units 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D based on the estimated register variation characteristic is preliminarily set and stored in a data base 32. Then, a phase control characteristic according to the printing condition applied to this time printing is selected among a plurality of phase control characteristics stored in the data base 32 while the printing speed is changed, and a phase relation among plate cylinders 5 of respective printing units 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D is varied based on the selected phase control characteristic. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
