<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize HCCI combustion in a wider operating region enabling supply of sufficient volume of air to an cylinder 2 with an EGR rate no less than a specified value in a direct injection type diesel engine making an HCCI combustion state by injecting fuel in a premix combustion zone H when a crank angle is within the range of a specified crank angle during compression stroke of the cylinder 2. <P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with a turbocharger 30 and an upstream end of an EGR passage 34 is connected to an exhaust passage 26 at an exhaust upstream side of its turbine 27. The EGR passage 34 is branched into two passages on the downstream side, a downstream end of a first branch passage 34a is connected to an intake passage 16 at an intake upstream side of a blower 20, and the downstream end of a second branch passage 34b is connected to the intake passage 16 on an intake downstream side of the blower 20. An EGR valve 34 regulating an exhaust gas recirculation amount and a switching valve 36 switching its flow to the first branch passage 34a or the second branch passage 34b are provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
