Coating compsn. (I) contains 100 pts. wt. polycarbonate resin (II) and 500-1000 pts. wt. of a solvent (III) which contains at least 58% dioxan (w.r.t. wt. of (III). (III) is entirely dioxan, or (III) also contains other component(s), namely ether(s), ketone(s) or halogenated hydrocarbon(s); (III) also contains a light-sensitive organic cpd. (IV) and pref. the other component(s) as above, esp. THF, cyclohexanone, dichloroethane or dichloromethane; (II) has mol. wt. 24,000-30,000; (I) 8-13 wt.% (IV). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is useful e.g. for the prodn. of protective coatings, charge transfer layers for electrophotographic materials, etc.. The compsn. is stable in storage unlike prior-art PC coatings compsns. with THF as solvent, which tend to gel in storage, forming a viscous liq. which eventually forms conglomerates or aggregates.
