PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output an image with proper gradation characteristics that an observer views without feeling the glare nor darkness.

SOLUTION: A medical image recording device 100 which outputs medical images by recording them on an image recording medium α makes gradation corrections of a medical image inputted from outside by an image processing part 110 under the control of a control part 120 so that the mean optical physical quantity of its specified area or specified signal value matches an ideal specified range suitable for an image observation by the observer and sends a recording head control signal, a recording medium conveyance signal, and a head conveyance signal corresponding to the gradation-corrected image signal to a recording head unit 130, a transport roller 140, and a recording head conveyance part 150 to record the gradation-corrected image on the image recording medium α.
