APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING AND COMPENSATING RELATIVE ADDRESS ON OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting and compensating a relative address on an optical recording medium are provided to correct an error by using the continuity of detection, thereby accurately decoding LPP(Land Pre-Pit) data and writing data at an accurate position. CONSTITUTION: A relative address detecting unit(250) reads relative addresses recorded on an optical recording medium. A relative address continuity detecting unit(270) examines whether relative addresses output from the relative address detecting unit are successive addresses more than a predetermined frequency. After confirming the successive addresses more than the predetermined frequency are inputted, a relative address compensating unit(280) forcibly compensates a current relative address not successive to a previous address.
