APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WAVEFORM OF RESET LAMP OF PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a waveform of a reset lamp of a plasma display panel are provided to generate automatically the waveform of the reset lamp according to an optimum gradient by sensing the image information related to gradient of a reset lamp waveform. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a waveform of a reset lamp of a plasma display panel includes a sensor(520), a lookup table storage portion(530f), a control circuit(530), and a lamp waveform circuit(540). The sensor(520) is used for sensing the image information to control a gradient of a reset lamp waveform of a plasma display panel(510). The lookup table storage portion(530f) stores reference data of the gradient of the rest lamp waveform corresponding to digital data values of the image information. The control circuit(530) is used for converting the image information to digital data or converting the reference data corresponding to the digital data value of the converted image information to analog signals. The lamp waveform circuit(540) is used for changing the gradient of the reset lamp waveform according to levels of the analog signals.
