Conductor torquing system

A conductor torquing system for large diameter threaded conductor casings or piles comprises a lower chain vise 20 adapted to grip a lower conductor casing or pile 2 and movable arms 50 operable to apply a retaining force to an upper conductor casing or pile 1 and to retain the latter in rotational contact with a spinning means 65. The spinning means 65 is operable to rotationally make-up the upper conductor casing or pile 1 to the lower conductor casing or pile 2 to an initial make-up torque value. An upper chain vise 30 is adapted to grip the upper conductor casing or pile 1 for applying a final make-up torque to the threaded connection.
