PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform setting easily in correspondence with the type of a print sheet. SOLUTION: When printing is performed using a print sheet 70 fixed with a memory element 80 for storing print information being used for printing the sheet size, the sheet type, and the like, at the upper left and lower right corners on the surface of the sheet, and for transmitting the print information on a radio wave upon receiving a radio wave of a specified wavelength, two information acquiring units 50 disposed at the left and right on the rear side of a carriage mechanism 30 transmit a radio wave of a specified wavelength, and receive print information being transmitted from the memory element 80 upon receiving that radio wave. Based on the received print information, the sheet size, the sheet type and the sheet direction are set and printed. Consequently, the print sheet 70 can be automatically set most appropriately prior to printing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
