<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen sensor element in which both a sensor for detecting concentration of oxygen and a heater provided with a heating element made of platinum are integrally formed and which is superior in resistance to thermal shocks such as continuous energization and heating and steep temperature rises. <P>SOLUTION: The oxygen sensor element is provided with the sensor and the heater. In the sensor, a measuring electrode made of a platinum and a reference electrode in contact with the atmosphere are provided for at least the opposite surfaces of a zirconia solid electrolyte of a flat plate shape. Heating elements made of platinum are embedded in a ceramic insulating layer at locations approximately symmetrical to the center axis in the longitudinal direction. A region in which the ceramic insulating layer is not formed is provided between the heating elements provided at the approximately symmetrical locations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
