<p>An air conditioner capable of stabilized refrigerant control even when a multiple type air conditioner is performing heating operation or even when there are a plurality of indoor units that are not operating; and a method of controlling the air conditioner. The air conditioner comprises an outdoor unit (2) having an outdoor heat exchanger, a plurality of indoor units (3a-3d) each having an indoor heat exchanger, a refrigerant circuit, motor-operated valves (33a-33d), a delivery pipe thermistor (24), and an outdoor controller (27). The refrigerant circuit connects the outdoor heat exchanger, a compressor (20), and the plurality of indoor heat exchangers. The motor-operated valves (33a-33d) are installed in the refrigerant circuit and respectively control the amounts of refrigerant flowing to the plurality of indoor heat exchangers. The delivery pipe thermistor (24) detects the delivery pipe temperature of the compressor (20). In the case where there are a plurality of indoor units that are not operating during heating operation, the outdoor controller (27) controls, on the basis of the delivery temperature, the degrees of opening of the motor-operated valves (33b, 33c, 33d) corresponding to the indoor units (3b, 3c, 3d) that are not operating. Further, the outdoor controller (27) individually corrects the degrees of opening of the motor-operated valves (33b, 33c, 33d) corresponding to the indoor units (3b, 3c, 3d) that are not operating.</p> |
