PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a center tool which can be freely attached to and detached from a tubular or cylindrical workpiece irrespective of its inside diameter. SOLUTION: The center tool is provided with a short cylindrical housing 4 with a center hole 3 formed on one end face 2 and an opening on the other end, a pressing bolt 6 inserted into a bolt inserting hole 5 penetrating the one end face 2, a first and a second slide core 7 and 8, a plurality of pressure pins 11 respectively inserted into a plurality of pin inserting holes 10 penetrating a barrel part 9 of the housing 4 at an equiangular pitch. When the pressing bolt is connected with the first slide core 7, the first and second slide core 7 and 8 are displaced in a thrust direction in the housing 4. Accordingly the plurality of the pressure pins 11 respectively follow a slant surface 12 of the first and second slide core 7 and 8, and project outward from the barrel part 9 of the housing 4.
