PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion part position detection device that can precisely detect the position of an insertion part. SOLUTION: The insertion part position detection device comprises an insertion body with either magnetic field generating elements or magnetic field detecting elements, a bed with at least three of the other magnetic field generating elements or magnetic field detecting elements, and a means for estimating the positions of the magnetic field generating elements or magnetic field detecting elements in the insertion part of the insertion body relative to the magnetic field generating elements or magnetic field detecting elements on the bed from magnetic field detection signals detected by the magnetic field detecting elements. The bed does not affect magnetic fields generated by the magnetic field generating elements, and carries at least three magnetic field generating elements or magnetic field detecting elements so as to form a detected target area in a region where a subject lies.
