PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection system with a fuel injection device operated on the principle of accumulating energy in a solid, which is capable of starting an engine even when no starting battery is furnished and no electric energy can be used because a generator is in power failure. SOLUTION: A fuel injection device 504 operated on the principle of accumulating energy in a solid for fuel injection into an engine 500 via injection nozzles 508 after fuel is supplied from a fuel tank 502 thereto and an auxiliary starting device to supply fuel to a spray 506 for the engine 500 via a control valve 505 after is supplied from a fuel tank 502 via a precompression pump 501 thereto are provided. The flow resistance of the control valve 505 of the auxiliary atarting device in combination with the flow resistance of the spray 506 is so set that a required amount of fuel for starting the engine at an engine starting speed can be supplied with pressure fed by a compression pump 501, without supplying electric energy to the injection device 504.
