<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple off-line teaching device for a robot, capable of completing a teaching work simply via a user's rough tracing of a workpiece outline on a monitor screen according to a machining procedure. SOLUTION: A robot off-line teaching device is equipped with a pointing device 4 capable of specifying a position on the screen of a monitor 3 for showing the image of a workpiece 2, a screen instruction coordinate value input means 6 for reading coordinate values for the position specified by the pointing device 4 on the monitor screen, an edge detection and image processing means 7 for calculating and detecting the outline of the workpiece 2 in the vicinity of the position of the coordinate values read through the screen instruction coordinate value input means 6, and a robot language sequence generation means 8 to generate a sequence of robot language for instructing a robot to machine the outline of the workpiece 2 detected by the edge detection and image processing means 7 in accordance with the order specified by the pointing device 4.</p> |
