PURPOSE: A device and a method for blocking lamp power to prevent the burglary of a projector are provided to easily input a code by a remote controller and immediately block the power supply for a lamp if a wrong code is inputted. CONSTITUTION: A device for blocking lamp power for preventing the burglary of a projector includes a memory(5) for storing a set code, an OSD processing part(4) for displaying a code input OSD to a screen, a remote controller(1) for inputting a code to the code input OSD, and a microcomputer(3) for comparing the input code with the set code to block the power supply of a lamp(8) by blocking the power of a ballast part(7) in the case of non-agreement between the codes.
