PURPOSE: A neck rest grinding apparatus of a roll grinder is provided to prevent chattering and grinding failure, and to improve the quality of a work roll by grinding the neck rest metal accurately with the driving force of the grinder and setting the roll precisely. CONSTITUTION: A neck rest grinding device(1) of a grinder supporting a roll neck in grinding a roll is composed of a mandrel member(50) combined between a headstock and a tailstock of the grinder and rotated, and a grinding unit(70) detachably mounted to the mandrel member and composed of a grinding knife(72) for adjusting the grinding diameter. The mandrel member includes a driving end combined with a dog of a driving unit of the headstock, a support end supported by the tailstock, and a body part(58) connected between the driving end and the support end by a bearing member.
