PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic book sales system in which electronic books can be read without requiring assistance of other application and reading of the electronic books can be restricted.

SOLUTION: This electronic book is provided with a book data storage part 24 for storing book data in which contents of the book are stored in digital form, a display means 21 for displaying the book data stored in the book data storage part 24, a settlement situation storage part 31 for storing a settlement situation indicating whether it is not yet settled or it is already settled, and a restriction means 23 for restricting the display of the book data by the display means 21 when the settlement situation stored in the settlement situation storage part 31 is not yet settled.
