The invention relates to a method for preparing a lime product containing active oxygen, in which caustic lime is reacted with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide so as to produce a solid lime product containing active oxygen and comprising calcium peroxide and slaked lime, the aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide containing a water-soluble salt of a non-transition metal, such as magnesium sulfate, and a water-soluble silicate.
