PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute an imaging apparatus in which the printing of image information onto a recording medium and the transfer of that image information are carried out smoothly while eliminating useless carriage. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a print mechanism B for printing image information on the permeation layer of a recording medium M using sublimation ink, and a heating mechanism E for heating the printed recording medium M. A front part cutting mechanism C is disposed at the part of the print mechanism B and a rear part cutting mechanism G is disposed at a position on the downstream side of the heating mechanism E. A control mode is set such that when the image information is printed continuously by the print mechanism B, the rear part cutting mechanism G cuts off the recording medium M printed with the image information individually, and when final image information is printed, the front part cutting mechanism C cuts off the recording medium M printed with that image information.
