<p>As a tape format, a continuation of block units constitutes a track, and data of a predetermined number of tracks constitutes a data unit called a group. In this format, a base group number indicating a group to which a current track physically belongs is recorded in the track ID information and least significant four bits of a group number indicating the group to which the current block logically belongs are recorded in a block. Thus, rewrite is performed on block basis. Even when blocks of a plurality of groups are recorded in a track, reproduction can be performed appropriately by specifying the group to which each block belongs.</p> |
