The camshaft adjuster for an internal combustion engine has a pressing proportional electromagnet (28) with its armature (33) fixed to an armature tappet (34) guided through a pole core (36). A free end surface of the armature tappet rests against a control plunger (18) or a part (25) fixed to it. A compression spring (24) loads the control plunger.
