<p>An optical fibre connector system, includes an optical connector (10) disposed therein, a recess (22, Fig 2) allowing a through connector (24) or adaptor (25, Fig 2) to be connected to the optical connector (10), and an engagement mechanism that acts on the optical connector (10) to prevent release of the through connector (24) when connected to the optical connector (10), and which is operable to enable release of the through connector (10). The engagement mechanism may be a movable element (26) that normally engages the connector (10) to a support (12) and which can be moved to disengage the connector (10) from the support (12), thereby releasing the through connector (24).
