PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner which can easily achieve the uniformity of a light quantity distribution in a scanning direction and has low cost and is high in reliability. SOLUTION: A light quantity detector 50 is arranged in a position equivalent to a central part 32A in the scanning direction of a photoreceptor 32 within an optical path between an fθlens 24 and a cylindrical mirror 30 in adjusting the optical axis of a semiconductor laser 12 and the position in the X-direction of the semiconductor laser 12 is adjusted to minimize the light quantity in the central part 32A in the scanning direction of the photoreceptor 32 in accordance with the output data by the light quantity detector 50, by which the optical axis of the semiconductor laser 12 can be aligned to the central position in the scanning direction of the photoreceptor 32 and the equal light distribution characteristics can be obtained in an image forming region.
