PURPOSE: A plasma display panel and a driving method thereof are provided to maintain stably a discharge operation and improve the contrast by controlling a voltage applied to a sustain electrode in an initialization process. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel includes a plurality of address electrodes, a plurality of scan electrodes, a plurality of sustain electrodes, and a plurality of discharge cells. A rising ramp signal, an intermediate square wave voltage, and a falling ramp signal are applied to the scan electrodes to perform the reset discharge. Each cell is initialized by applying the first voltage signal to the sustain electrodes during an intermediate square wave period. An address waveform is applied to select cells. A sustain waveform is applied according to the address waveform.
