PURPOSE: A power saving type air conditioner and a control method of the same are provided to reduce power consumption by falling density of refrigerant. CONSTITUTION: A first liquid tube(31) and a second liquid tube(32) connect an outdoor unit(10) and an indoor unit(20). An electronic opening and closing valve A(A) is installed on an outdoor unit side end of the first liquid tube. An electronic opening and closing valve B(B) is installed on an indoor unit side end of the first liquid tube. An electronic opening and closing valve C(C) is installed on an indoor side of the second liquid tube. All of the electronic opening and closing valves are opened at normal operation to allow liquid refrigerant to be introduced into an evaporator through the first liquid tube and the second liquid tube. The electronic opening and closing valve B and the electronic opening and closing valve C are closed on a first stage of power saving operation to cut off inflow of liquid refrigerant to the indoor unit through the first liquid tube and the second liquid tube while the electronic opening and closing valve A is opened so as to increase density of refrigerant in the first liquid tube and the second liquid tube. The electronic opening and closing valve C is opened and the electronic opening and closing valve A is closed after the density of the refrigerant in the first liquid tube and the second liquid tube is increased enough to allow liquid refrigerant to be stored in the first liquid tube and to be supplied to the evaporator through the second liquid tube.
