PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge treatment method which can safely and effectively use chlorine gas generated from a hypochlorous acid solution added during sterilization treatment. SOLUTION: In the treatment method of sludge generated by biologically treating organic waste water, the generated sludge is sterilized by adding the hypochlorous acid solution, and the chlorine gas generated by the addition of the hypochlorous acid solution is recovered to be used as agitating gas and/or sterilizing gas.
